The Portland Pilot

Built by: New Tradition Homes (2013)
Portland, OR

THE PORTLAND PILOT is a voluntary project by New Tradition Homes in collaboration with the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) and its utility partners as a Next Step Home Pilot intended to test and lay the foundation for increasing energy efficiency and comfort of new homes across the Northwest region.

The project takes energy-efficient homebuilding to a new level with a strategy that includes a tighter home envelope, advanced framing techniques, increased insulation and more efficient windows. The home also uses a ductless heating and cooling system and a heat recovery ventilation system. This will result in a home that is more comfortable, with better air quality and lower monthly energy costs.

Based in Vancouver, Washington, New Tradition Homes has been building 100% ENERGY STAR certified homes since 2007.
